- Biodegradable
- The property of a material to break down naturally in the environment through the action of microorganisms (bacteria, fungi) into simple chemical elements (water, carbon dioxide) within a maximum period established by regulations (generally 6 months). Cardboard is a highly biodegradable material due to its natural composition.

- FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certification
- Independent, third-party international certification that guarantees that the wood, pulp, and paper used in the production of packaging come from forests managed in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically sustainable manner, or from strictly traceable post-consumer recycled sources.
- PEFC Certification
- Forest Certification Scheme Evaluation Program. Like the FSC, it ensures that cellulosic raw materials come from sustainably managed forests through a certified and monitored chain of custody.
- Compostable
- The property of a biodegradable organic material to decompose in a controlled industrial composting environment, transforming into compost (a soil nutrient) within just 3 months, without releasing toxic substances or heavy metals (in accordance with European standard EN 13432).

- LCA (Life Cycle Assessment)
- A scientific and standardized methodology (ISO 14040/44) that assesses the environmental footprint and impact of packaging throughout its entire life cycle: from the sourcing of cellulose-based raw materials, through paper and board production and distribution, to use and end-of-life management (recycling or disposal).
P
- PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation)
- European regulation on packaging and packaging waste aimed at reducing the volume of waste generated, eliminating empty space in packaging (combating overpackaging), promoting reuse, and requiring that all materials be fully recyclable. Salco’s single-material packaging made of recyclable cardboard is developed in full compliance with the strict environmental standards set by the PPWR.
