FAQ
Find the information
you need!
- Do you make bag-in-box products?
Yes, we manufacture and customize the corrugated cardboard outer packaging for our Bag-in-Box solutions. Our cardboard boxes are designed and printed in high definition to perfectly accommodate, down to the millimeter, the inner plastic bag containing the liquid (wine, oil, juices, or other industrial fluids). We perform precision die-cutting of the opening for the dispenser tap and guarantee a sturdy box that can withstand stacking and transport.
- For which e-commerce sectors do you manufacture boxes and packaging?
We provide specialized e-commerce packaging for companies operating in a variety of major product sectors: Fashion, Apparel, and Footwear (durable and aesthetically pleasing boxes); Beauty, Cosmetics, and Pharmaceuticals (precision cases and gift boxes); Publishing and Graphic Arts (rigid envelopes and book boxes); Food, Wine & Spirits (certified shatter-resistant packaging); Hi-Tech and Consumer Electronics (protective boxes with custom interiors); and Eyewear (elegant packaging and vertical display stands).
- What kinds of e-commerce and shipping boxes do you have?
Our e-commerce product line includes self-assembling die-cut boxes with interlocking closures (standard FEFCO 0427 model), flat boxes for mail shipments, self-folding boxes for ultra-fast packaging, boxes with built-in double adhesive strips for easy returns, rigid cardboard envelopes, and integrated One-Box boxes. Each model can be customized in terms of dimensions and graphics to perfectly align with the client’s brand needs.
- Do you have packaging for shipping glass bottles or other fragile items?
Yes, we have developed and tested industry-specific solutions for the safe shipping of bottles and highly fragile glass products. Among these, the Bottlexpresssystem, a patented line of protective corrugated cardboard packaging designed to secure and protect bottles of wine, sparkling wine, oil, and spirits. Thanks to a shock-absorbing double-wall internal structure that keeps the bottles away from the outer walls of the box, Bottlexpress passes the most rigorous drop tests and ensures zero breakage during shipping via express couriers.
- Do you supply packaging accessories?
Salco is a box manufacturer focused exclusively on the design and industrial production of cardboard packaging and custom structural paper products. We produce custom-made cardboard protective inserts and fillers for our customers’ products. We do not sell generic or consumable packaging materials such as plain adhesive tape, plastic bubble wrap, polystyrene chips, or stretch wrap.
- Do you also manufacture paper or cardboard shipping envelopes?
Yes, we manufacture mailing and shipping envelopes made of rigid cardboard or heavyweight paper, featuring adhesive closure strips and easy-open tabs. These solutions offer an excellent, flat, and eco-friendly alternative to plastic envelopes, providing superior protection against creasing and crushing for documents, books, company catalogs, lightweight clothing, and small accessories.
- How can I prevent products from being damaged during shipping?
To ensure the integrity of products during the rigors of shipping via express couriers, we design custom cardboard interior components. We manufacture honeycomb structures, custom-made dividers, die-cut securing inserts, and shock-absorbing inserts shaped to the exact dimensions of the product. These systems completely secure the item inside the box, absorbing external vibrations and impact forces in an eco-friendly, single-material way, eliminating the need for plastic or bubble wrap.
- Do e-commerce boxes come with double-sided tape and an easy-open feature?
Yes, we design and manufacture specialized e-commerce packaging equipped with one or two high-strength double-sided adhesive strips integrated directly into the closure flap. The double-sided adhesive strip allows for extremely fast sealing without the need for adhesive tape. Combined with the tear-off strip (perforated for easy tearing), this allows the recipient to open the package safely without using scissors or a box cutter. The inclusion of an optional second double-sided adhesive strip allows the customer to reuse the same box to send any returns neatly and securely.
- What is “One-Box” e-commerce packaging, and what benefits does it offer?
One-Box is the innovative smart packaging concept developed by Salco to eliminate the practice of “double packaging” (placing the product’s retail box inside a second, unmarked shipping box). One-Box integrates a double-sided box into a single cardboard structure: elegant and featuring high-definition printing on the inside to showcase the product, and sturdy and protective on the outside to withstand logistics transport. This system reduces cardboard consumption by up to 40%, eliminates the time spent on double packaging in the warehouse, and reduces the environmental impact of shipments, offering a memorable and sustainable unboxing experience.
- How to Choose the Best Box for E-commerce Shipments?
When choosing the ideal packaging for e-commerce, three main factors must be taken into account:
- Product Weight and Fragility: For lightweight products or those already equipped with sturdy primary packaging, single-wall or micro-flute corrugated cardboard (lightweight and compact) is ideal. For fragile, heavy, or high-value items, double-wall corrugated cardboard is essential, as it ensures rigidity and puncture resistance.
- Volume Optimization: Choose a size that minimizes internal empty space. This reduces the amount of filler material needed and optimizes shipping rates (volumetric weight).
- Customer Experience (Unboxing): Die-cut, self-assembling boxes offer a significantly better visual presentation than cardboard boxes, turning the act of opening the package into a moment that builds brand loyalty.
